In 1976 the Egyptian 25 piastres changed emblem: on the back of this type the Eagle of Saladin gave way to the Hawk of Quraish.
The Central Bank kept the front unchanged: at the centre is the sculpture «Awakening of Egypt», a sphinx and a standing Egyptian woman. On the back the hawk, like the eagle before it, is framed by ears of wheat, cotton and maize.
The type had a short life: the sheets are dated 1976 to 1978, and all carry the signature of Governor Mohamed Abdel Fattah Ibrahim. In 1979 the 25 piastres received a new design, with the Sayyida Aisha mosque on the front.
In an Egypt collection this is the short three-year type between the eagle of 1967 and the mosque of 1979, a position without which a run of Egyptian 25 piastres is incomplete. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
